WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
Daytona Beach is one of those Florida destinations where you really can slow down and enjoy being at the beach without feeling like you need a packed itinerary.
For us, the hotel became a big part of the trip. We stayed at Delta Hotels Daytona Beach Oceanfront, and it was amazing. The location, oceanfront pool, beach access, and overall atmosphere made it a place where we actually wanted to spend time instead of simply using the hotel as somewhere to sleep.
Every room at the Delta has an ocean view and private balcony, and the hotel has an oceanfront pool, hot tub, cabanas, and direct access to the beach.
Add in a Daytona Tortugas baseball game and a couple of really good local restaurants, and Daytona makes an easy Florida getaway with just enough to do.
STAY OCEANFRONT AT DELTA DAYTONA BEACH
Sometimes where you stay completely changes a trip, and this was one of those times.
The Delta Hotels Daytona Beach Oceanfront sits directly on the Atlantic in Daytona Beach Shores. The pool overlooks the ocean, and you can walk directly from the property onto the beach. There is also a poolside setting with cabanas, a hot tub, and plenty of space to simply hang out and enjoy the view.
What we loved most was the vibe.
There was something about being able to spend the day by the pool overlooking the beach, head down to the sand whenever we wanted, and then come back and relax without having to go anywhere else.
The rooms are another reason I would recommend it. Every guest room has an ocean view and a private balcony, so you are not booking an oceanfront hotel only to end up looking at the parking lot.
For this trip, the hotel was not just where we stayed. It was part of the experience.
CATCH A TORTUGAS GAME AT JACKIE ROBINSON BALLPARK
We also caught a Daytona Tortugas game, and the ballpark itself turned out to have a story worth knowing.
The Tortugas play at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, which opened in 1914 and is the oldest ballpark still being used in Minor League Baseball.
The history gets even better.
On March 17, 1946, Jackie Robinson played there for the Montreal Royals during spring training. Daytona Beach allowed Robinson to play after other Florida cities had prevented games involving him from taking place. The ballpark was eventually renamed for Robinson in 1989.
Knowing that history makes going to a Tortugas game feel like more than simply adding baseball to a beach vacation.
It is also exactly the kind of evening we like when traveling. Spend the day by the ocean, clean up, grab something to eat, and finish the night watching baseball.
TWO DAYTONA BEACH FOOD STOPS WE LOVED
Crabby’s Oceanside
If you are at the beach, seafood just feels right.
Crabby’s Oceanside is only steps from Daytona Beach and offers both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the coast. The atmosphere fits Daytona perfectly: casual, coastal, and easy after a day at the beach.
This is the kind of restaurant that fits naturally into a beach vacation. You do not have to dress up or turn dinner into a big event. Go for the seafood, enjoy the coastal atmosphere, and stay in vacation mode.
Luna’s Restaurant
Luna’s Restaurant was an especially convenient find because it is almost directly across South Atlantic Avenue from the Delta.
The Delta is at 2505 S. Atlantic Avenue, while Luna’s is at 2516 S. Atlantic Avenue.
Luna’s is casual and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with everything from breakfast favorites to burgers, steaks, and dishes influenced by Mexican, Latin American, and Mediterranean flavors.
When you find a good restaurant that close to a hotel you already love, it makes the trip even easier.
WOULD I GO BACK?
Absolutely.
Daytona Beach gave us exactly what we wanted from this trip: ocean views, beach time, a hotel we genuinely enjoyed spending time at, good food, and a fun night of baseball.
I would stay at the Delta again without hesitation. The oceanfront pool and overall atmosphere made it one of those hotels that became part of our memories from the trip rather than simply the place where we kept our luggage.
And if you are planning a Daytona Beach trip, make room for a Tortugas game. Between the intimate minor league baseball experience and the history of Jackie Robinson Ballpark, it gives you something completely different from another day on the beach.
Sometimes a great Florida getaway really can be that simple.
Dream. Dare. Dive.
